If you google, “Resume Formats,” you will get literally thousands of web sites that contain various formatting tools and formats for your resume.  I encourage you to do so you can get an idea of different formats and what is right for you.

The standard format, however looks like this:

FIRST NAME, LAST NAME

Mailing Address

City, State, Zip Code

 EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:

SKILLS:

ORGANIZATIONS/VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:

References Available Upon Request

Some students will use different colors for the top heading and sub-headings.  Others will put the contact information in a side bar (horizontal or vertical); others put a border around the entire page; and still others will put their sub-headings in shaded boxes.  Again, it depends on you and how you want to present yourself.
